It is difficult to state whether our family began in the 16th Century or the 17th Century, however, it is clear that the Chana Family comprised of a group of cousin brothers. Its i not clear who or what reason brought them all to the village Nawa Pend, where they stayed for a considerable period of time before acquiring land in the village Buillran, where they finally settled as farmers.
Sardar from village Sha-Kor, names Kartar Singh insisted that they should come to village naan Qulla and offered them free land as an inducement to move. The families took up the offer and settled in Nawa Quilla, building their own houses and “hawalies” close to one another. In around the 17th Century all the families got together and bored a water hold called the “Khoo”. The families then left farming trying their hands on carpentry as a living, although they kept a small partition of land each for personal use. After some time it was noticed that the water hole was drying up so immediately everyone decided to bore another water hold to ensure a continuous supply of water, which was competed in the early 18th Century. The most recent “Khoo” is now in the land where Baba Shahed Resides.
